Led by Newmat,the national key research and development program project has been successfully completed and accepted

In February 2022, as the leading unit, Newmat (Beijing) Environmental Materials Technology Co., Ltd. undertook the pilot special project "Research and Industrialization of Green Waterborne Industrial Coatings and Coating Technology" of the "13th Five Year Plan" national key research and development plan "Research on the Causes of Air Pollution and Control Technology" received the notification of the project comprehensive performance evaluation conclusion, which means that the project has successfully passed the acceptance.
The project is jointly undertaken by Newmat Company with other nine units, including the Process Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Sifang Shares, Sifang Limited, Sifang Institute, TPCO and Xin Jinshan. The total budget of the project is 70 million yuan, including 29 million yuan of special funds. The project objective is to replace traditional solvent based products by waterborne coatings, controling VOCs emissions from the source, achieving large-scale production and application of waterborne coatings, and promoting technological progress and product upgrading of green waterborne coatings industry. The research team has combined the research of new materials with the demand for energy conservation and emission reduction, making technical breakthroughs in the research of high-performance waterborne polymers and green coating materials, with the team having synthesized three series of dozens of products, including waterborne rail vehicle coatings, waterborne antirust coatings for oil casing, water-based polyurethane leather coating materials, and applied them in batches to the internal and external coating of CRRC Metro, high-speed bullet trains, railway passenger cars and other vehicles. As the first batch application of waterborne anti-corrosion coating, and the first batch application of waterborne colorful coating for high-speed maglev vehicle exterior coating and waterborne coating for Fuxing, it has played a good role in application demonstration. Not only meet the performance requirements, but the VOCs emission reduction effect also reached more than 90%, which fit the requirements of the national "Blue Sky Plan" and air governance, thus promoting the development of green waterborne coating technology for the industry. The achievements have won numerous awards, such as the first prize of environmental technology progress, the third prize of "scientific and technological progress", "Beijing new technology and new products (services)", and the Ringier Technology Innovation Award.
The successful acceptance of this project is the recognition of Newmat's technical strength and the embodiment of the company's advantages in production, teaching, research and application.
